Unintentional sense of wonder

“Does not a mountain unintentionally evoke in us a sense of wonder? ”
— John Cage (1961)

Mountains do not intend to evoke the feelings we have for them. Intention is not part of their nature. Mountains are just what they are. The sense of wonder mountains invoke arrises in us not because of them.

Wonder takes place in the person who has it. Mountains, when allowed to be themselves require nothing from us yet we can impart in them this sense of wonder. How miraculous!
