Art Liestman, a part-time woodturner, lives in Coquitlam, BC, Canada.
Over the past 5 years, he has switched his woodworking focus from making
experimental musical instruments to making turned wood objects. In
addition to making functional items and small decorative pieces, he is
pursuing more artistic work such as his series of puzzling illusion
vessels. Art was instrumental in founding the Greater Vancouver Woodturners Guild and is currently the first President of that organization. He has demonstrated for several AAW chapters and has written articles for Experimental Musical Instruments, More Woodturning, and American Woodturner. Extended biography |

Humpty 7 3/4" x 4 3/4" - Big Leaf Maple and Ebony Humpty is the first of the puzzling illusion series - a hollow vessel that appears to be a 3D jigsaw puzzle. The loose pieces add to the illusion but are not intended to fit into the holes. After thinking about making this piece for over a year, I finally got around to it. There are many variations of this concept which I intend to explore. |
